Westie Cake

West Highland White Terrier:

The best way to describe this wee white Terrier dog breed from Scotland is simply to say that he's so full of self-esteem that he knows he's the best thing around. Always on the lookout for a good time, he'll make you laugh while he entertains himself. He's friendly and happy, with a lively nature that endears him to everyone (except small rodents), especially when he cocks his head to the side and looks at you quizzically.

Per order request - A bow with the Ohio State Logo, including mini Buckeyes.

All packed up for delivery. Looks like he'll sleep for the whole trip!

Chocolate Peppermint Cupcakes

Peppermint and Christmas go well together.

Chocolate cupcakes, chocolate icing, chocolate peppermint ganache with a Hershey's peppermint candy for a garnish.

Peppermint has a long tradition of being used in folk medicine and aromatherapy. Peppermint is commonly thought to soothe/treat symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, irritable bowel, and bloating. The aroma of peppermint has been studied for its possible effect to  memory and alertness. It is the oldest and most popular flavor of mint-flavored confectionery.

Black Forest Cake

Black Forest Gâteau & Black Forest Cake are the English names for the German desert Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte or literally "Black Forest cherry - torte", where it originated.

The cake is named not directly after the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) mountain range in southwestern Germany but rather from the specialty liquor of that region, known as Schwarzwälder Kirsch(wasser) and distilled from tart cherries. This is the ingredient, with its distinctive cherry pit flavor and alcoholic content, that gives the cake its flavor. Cherries, cream, and Kirsch were first combined in the form of a dessert in which cooked cherries were served with cream and Kirschwasser, while a cake combining cherries, cookies/biscuits and cream (but without Kirschwasser) probably originated in Germany.

This cake was made with a rich chocolate cake, cherries & whipped cream filling, whipped cream icing and shaved chocolate on the sides. The cake is four layers with both whipped cream and cherries in between the layers. Super moist and delicious . . . . . . . this one is a keeper!

DJ Cake

Disc Jockey, DJ or DeeJay:

This is a person who mixes recorded music for an audience. Originally, "disc"referred to phonograph records, not the later compact disks/discs.Today, the term includes all forms of music playback, no matter the medium. The title "DJ" is also commonly used by DJ's in front of their real names or a name they created as a title to denote their profession and the music they play.

This is a cake creation made for DJ Marley McFly's Birthday.

This is the LOGO that was sent as inspiration for the creation of this cake .

My work table after many hours of prep. A lot of clean up between colors & cut-outs.

The creation of the Duplicate LOGO about 3/4 of the way complete.

I created old vinyl record albums and music notes for the sides of the cake.

The completed LOGO with the Birthday Boy's name at the bottom.

Front side view with the music notes.

The finished DJ Cake - Happy Birthday DJ Marley McFly!!!
A DJ's Poem

Guests dance and move to the groovy sounds.
Lights twirl and twist as the speaker pounds.
"Hands in the air and pump your fists, now make some noise"
The DJ insists.
The crowd reacts in a frenzied state.
The wait staff dancing while clearing plates.
The floor is packed the room is hot.
Mr. DJ's showing what he's got.
Party people dancing with delight
As the music plays into the night.
The maestro plays a song request.
Another happy smiling guest.
The tempo moves to a slower pace
With couples dancing face to face.
The DJ plays the final song
Inviting all to sing along.
Out of nowhere you hear a shout
"One more song 'till they kick us out!"
The crowd erupts into a chant
"one more song" they rave and rant!
The DJ cues the next tune
As a danceable beat fills the room.
The song plays for a while then ends with a snap.
The crowd whistles and yells then dismiss with a clap.
I was a witness.
I watched it unfold.
The DJ played hits for the young and the old.
He played what they wanted missed not a request.
Yes, I am your DJ, thanks for being my guest.

Delicious Autumn!

Fall is nature's boldest triumph:

The trees are disrobed by the autumn winds.
Leaves are falling and the wind is blowing a gentle breeze.
The leaves do fall in half-playing swirls, and the wind hurries on....ahhhh Fall.
The pumpkins are ripe, the apples are crisp.

 "October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band."

Hockey Cake

Hockey: The roots of hockey are buried deep in antiquity. Historical records show that a crude form of hockey was played in Egypt 4,000 years ago, and in Ethiopia around 1,000 BC. Various museums offer evidence that a form of the game was played by Romans and Greeks, and by the Aztec Indians in South America several centuries before Columbus landed in the New World. The modern game of hockey evolved in England in the mid-18th century, primarily around schools.

Ice Hockey is believed to be an off-shoot of stick and ball games invented in the 1700s and 1800s in the United Kingdom. These games were brought to Canada and the United States and several similar winter games, such as "shinney" and "ice polo" using informal rules, developed. The first recognized recorded game resembling modern ice hockey was played indoors on March 3, 1875, in Montreal Canada, and several characteristics of that game such as the length of playing time, the length of the ice rink, the use of a puck and the dimensions of the goal have been retained to this day.

The professional ice hockey as we know it today originated around 1900 and was played for the first time in the Olympic Games of  1920.
